And we’re getting closer to actually landing. This video shows how to create the landing gear and some details around it. Was planning to also add materials and decals in this part, but the video got a bit too long, so will discuss that in the next episode. Definitely don’t want to rush it :).
Each video I will show how to do certain things both with and without addons. If techniques have been explained in previous videos I will use the fastest and easiest way to do it. Mostly this will be using my favorite addon: Hard Ops.

This time I’ll add the engine part and make a start with the landing gear. After that we can focus on some extra details, and on adding the finishing touches on the Lander: Materials and decals with DecalMachine. Then all is left are the environment, animation and smoke/fire simulation.

In the previous video I showed how to create a window on a curved surface by changing the mesh itself. In this bonus video I will show how you can also do this using a simple texture. Really easy to accomplish and no issues with shading.

Welcome to part 6 of the creation of a Mars-Lander Animation. In this video I will add the top part and nose cone to the lander. It is already starting to look like a real Mars Lander. But we are not done yet. In the next parts I will start working on the landing gear and engine, and once that is done we are ready to finish the lander with a final touch: adding some last details and materials, and making it look even better with DecalMachine. The only thing left after that is making the animation itself and adding the environment and smoke. Enough topics for a couple of more videos:).

This is the second part of the creation of a Mars-Lander Animation. In this video I will create the lower engine cover. This can be done in many ways, but I always try to do it non-destructively so changes can be done without much effort. Addons can help you speedup your workflow quite a bit, so I will show you how to create the engine cover with and without addons.
